The California Teaching Credential Specialist

The CTC has reinstated the Basic Skills Requirement (BSR), which proves your readiness to teach. The good news is you now have more options to meet BSR.  In addition to taking the California Basic Skills Test (CBEST), you can have your undergrad courses evaluated to see if they fulfill or partially fulfill BSR. The even better news is that Alliant will evaluate your transcripts at no cost.  And, if your coursework alone doesn’t fulfill BSR, we’ll even give you a free three-month subscription to Study.com to prepare for taking the CBEST.  All you need to do to get the process started and access these services is submit your application.  *

Prepare for your evaluation in three steps:

  1. Fill out an admissions application
  2. Order your unofficial transcripts
  3. Speak to an admission counselor who will guide you through the evaluation process

Our Programs

Preliminary Single Subject
Teaching Credential

At the California School of Education (CSOE), we believe that every classroom should have a qualified teacher at the helm, regardless of where that classroom is. Our Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential Program allows future educators like yourself to specialize within a specific academic subject of expertise in California’s middle and high schools and become the English, math, science, or other teacher who inspires the next generation of students and makes a lasting impact in the classroom.

Preliminary Multiple Subject Teaching Credential

This credential program is for those who feel a calling to shape future generations as elementary school teachers in general education. This program prepares you to become a teacher-of-record in any self-contained K-12 classroom within California, offering instruction and leadership while providing a well-rounded and comprehensive education to each and every student in your classrooms.

I enjoy the individual attention professors can give to each student. I hope that the program and the university will continue to grow, and become a renowned university one day, which it absolutely deserves.

“In my experience with Alliant it was very clear from the start that there was a commitment to education being the great equalizer—and so I feel like I got the tools through my learning at Alliant that are allowing me to become a better teacher and reach out to everyone in my classrooms.”

- Evelyn Serrano

"I have learned so much in the past semesters. In addition to academic knowledge, the cultural diversity of the school has provided a lot of opportunities for me to make friends with people around the globe, and learn a lot about their cultures."
