California needs teachers. The Center for the Future of Teaching and Learning estimates that with about a third of the teaching force is nearing retirement. California will need at least an additional 100,000 teachers over the next decade to avoid a serious teacher shortage.

Earning a teaching credential in California requires the completion of a bachelor’s degree, a teacher preparation program and standardized testing. There are 3 basic credential paths to consider:

  • Multiple Subject Teaching Credential which allows teaching in elementary schools
